Our lines of work and objectives

CNJC’S POOL OF TRAINERS

Why does the CNJC have a Pool of Trainers?

The creation of a Pool of Trainers stems from a specific need of the CNJC, the need to systematize the training of the CNJC itself in order to reach a training standard in line with the other NYCs, in Europe and elsewhere. The experience of training officers’ exchanges at other national youth councils shows that an exchange can contribute a great deal to the growth of the CNJC. It will contribute to devising and implementing new educational strategies or reinforcing the already existing ones. It will develop and carry out training activities, both those organized by the CNJC and those organized by affiliated bodies. It will contribute actively to the formulation and implementation of the Council’s youth policies. It will promote the participation of young people in the Council and the affiliated bodies through the activities it will carry out, attracting young people.

Lines of work of the Pool of Trainers:
  • Facilitation of processes: It is important for the CNJC’s discourse to grow and include new perspectives, new realities and alternatives. A discourse has to be created about new realities, about subjects of interest to young people and of protection from society and the authorities. Having trained people with the tools to facilitate these processes is an advantage for the CNJC itself (the different parts of its structure) and the member bodies.
  • Training in matters of the CNJC discourse: Since the CNJC is very clear about certain matters, it is important to try to make its discourse in these subjects reach as many people as possible. The matters to be dealt with could be: young people’s participation, the associative movement, local youth councils as a model of local participation, young people’s emancipation, and so on.
Objectives of the CNJC’s Pool of Trainers:
  • To bring together under the same umbrella trainers and experts in different matters of importance for the CNJC.
  • To empower people so that they can receive training, and to facilitate processes of debate and discourse creation in the CNJC.
  • To contribute to the definition of training policies within Catalan associations.
  • To empower these people to have an impact internationally.
  • To contribute to the definition of training policies in international platforms (for example the YFJ).

Protocol of the Pool of Trainers

Bellow we present the PROTOCOL of the CNJC’s training officers’ exchange in detail:

The project:
A training officers’ exchange is a group of people who have experience in training activities, with different groups, in different fields and with different methodologies. Normally it is linked to an association, an organization or a platform of bodies. Each training officers’ exchange works differently and has a defined role within each body. It may be a group with the task of carrying out training work, designing and implementing educational strategies, or a simple resource open to the body or bodies (in the case of platforms, like the CNJC). The trainers in an exchange generally carry out training, and act as facilitators, moderators and specialists in the events organized by the body for which they work.

The creation of a training officers’ exchange stems from a demand by the CNJC bodies in the 2010-11 Work Plan: the need to systematize the training of the CNJC itself in order to reach a training standard in line with other national youth councils, in Europe and elsewhere. Their experience of training officers’ exchanges shows that these can contribute a great deal to the growth of the CNJC.

The objectives of the training officers’ exchange are the following:
  1. To bring together under the same umbrella trainers and experts in different matters of importance for the CNJC.
  2. To empower people so that they can undergo training, and to facilitate processes of debate and discourse creation in the CNJC.
  3. To contribute to the definition of training policies within Catalan associations.
  4. To empower these people to have an impact internationally.
  5. To contribute to the definition of training policies in international platforms (for example the European Youth Forum).
We thus understand that a CNJC training officers’ exchange would be very important for the CNJC and for its grass-roots bodies, and for the representation of the CNJC internationally.

The role of the CNJC’s training officers’ exchange is to implement the projects of the training section. It also coordinates and support their work, always bearing in mind the Council’s discourse and avoiding overlapping with services offered by CNJC members.

Roles of the training officers’ exchange:

  • Facilitation of processes (facilitators): it is important for the CNJC’s discourse to grow and include new perspectives, new realities and alternatives. A discourse has to be created about new realities, about subjects of interest to young people and of protection from society and the authorities. Having trained people with the tools to facilitate these processes is an advantage for the CNJC itself (the different parts of its structure) and the member bodies.
  • Training in discourse themes of the CNJC (trainers): since the CNJC is very clear about certain matters, it is important to try to make its discourse in these subjects reach as many people as possible. The matters to be dealt with could be: young people’s participation, the associative movement, local youth councils as a model of local participation, young people’s emancipation, and so on.

Criteria and ratios:

  • Role of the training officers’ exchange: if done as a facilitator or a trainer
  • Volume of work: days of preparation and performing the activity
  • Language of the activity: if the activity takes place in the co-official languages or in another language.

Quantitative remuneration:
